The set stages two recognizable figures from comic-book imagery: a man in a light trench coat, white shirt and loosened red tie, and a woman in a top hat, white shirt with bow, black jacket and fishnet stockings.

The first images take place at the counter of a bar. The light is low and warm, with lamps and greenish reflections left out of focus in the background, while the face remains the most defined element. A glass of whisky and a lit cigarette build a thread of smoke that cuts through the beam of light; the gaze often drifts off frame, with an expression that reads as tired rather than theatrical. In a second frame, behind faintly veiled glass, a leather briefcase and a shrunken head appear, displayed like any other object, a detail that shifts the tone toward the uncanny.

The images of the woman change palette: cyan and magenta from neon signs dominate, tracing cool outlines on dark hair and on the hat. A fan of playing cards appears between white-gloved fingers, and the body occupies the space calmly, leaning against a dark seat, without stiffness.

In the couple portraits the setting becomes richer: red tufted velvet sofa, gilt-framed mirror, dark wallpaper, lit candles. The two share the frame while keeping distinct attitudes, she standing with a wide upward gesture accompanied by sparks, he seated, stretched back against the cushions, glass beside him and a few cards fallen on the floor.

The final image is set in a room with green walls, wooden chairs and framed pictures on the wall. Arcs of golden energy develop around the male figure and an open book hangs suspended in mid-air; the trench coat opens with the movement, the light stays warm and the rest of the room slides into shadow.
