The cosplay shoot: AleRose(2)Bunny

The set came together in Milan, during a photo trip, in a completely improvised way: we needed to settle things with a cosplay that had been chasing us for a long time, a small lingering "curse". Shooting with AleRose is always easy, she is a friend before being a model, and it shows: there is no need to explain anything, we just start and the images arrive on their own.

The images take place in a garden, among thick hedges, a flowering bush and a terracotta pot in the background. The light comes in low and full, with a veil of haze that softens the outlines and lightens the green until it turns pale. The palette stays essential: white, black, fair skin, with the pink of the lilies as the only warm note. The costume plays on the same opposition: the very blonde bob held by a dark band, the black jacket with wide glossy sleeves, the light bodysuit with its ornamental embroidery, the long gloves, the tall boots and the platforms that stretch the figure. A tattoo stays visible on the thigh and becomes part of the picture.

The blade accompanies almost the whole story: in the first shot it crosses the frame diagonally and cuts across the face, in others it rests against her back or rises into the backlight, which sets it alight like a pale line. The bouquet of lilies arrives as a pause, a softer moment inside an otherwise taut series.

Her presence is central and steady, at times frontal and unabashed, at times more contained and in profile. The gaze moves between the camera and somewhere off frame, while the body occupies the space naturally, without forcing anything. In the tighter portraits everything concentrates on the face and the haze around it; in the full figures she measures herself against the green behind her and the depth of the garden, holding the centre effortlessly.
