The modeling shoot: 90's Vibes

I shot this set at the Arcade&Food, among the cabinets and the lit signs, chasing the nineties atmosphere that had been buzzing in my head for a while. Almost all the light comes from the neon in the room and from two one-metre LED tubes I brought along: one red and very warm, cutting across the frames diagonally, and one cold, bouncing off the glass and the metal of the counter. The result is a vaporwave palette of pink, magenta, blue and acid green, with haze softening the edges and turning the background into a smear of colour: the signs lose their words and stay as glowing marks, the cabinet buttons melt into out-of-focus dots, the green tiled wall becomes nothing more than a chromatic echo behind the figure.

AleRoseBunny sits inside that light without fighting it: her long copper hair catches the warm reflections, while the tattoos on her arms glow with coloured spill. I left plenty of shadows closed, because in a place like this it's the neon that decides what you see.

The rest is a matter of leaning points, distances and small gestures. She stretches out over the counter as if it were her own, letting the glass send back a blurred reflection of red and blue; elsewhere she stands between two machines, brushes the metal, gathers a strand of hair between her fingers, rests on a red driving wheel as if it were a handrail. Nothing is forced: it looks more like she's waiting for her turn to play, her gaze returning often to the camera, direct and not at all shy.

The look helps the story too: a choker at her neck, a black top with glittering appliqués, ripped jeans, a lace glove appearing in a couple of shots. They're details you only catch in flashes in the dark, when the red tube crosses them, and for the rest they stay buried in the haze. That's exactly what I wanted: a set that doesn't explain everything, that leaves the venue out of focus and keeps only her and the light sharp.
