The modeling shoot: Laundry Service

The set comes to life in a coin laundry, among rows of industrial steel washers whose portholes glow red. That's where everything starts: the lit circle of the drum becomes the main frame, with Naomi sitting inside it, leaning on the open door, or seen through the glass as if from within the machine. In a couple of images the space widens to include a metal cart and the green walls of the room, with the digital program displays glowing in the background and safety labels dotting the polished panels.

The palette works with few strong tones: the warm red of the lighting against cold greens and cyans from the LEDs, with grey metal in between. The ribbed red beanie echoes that colour up top, while ripped denim, a light tank top, a striped tie, a chain belt and tall laced boots stay deliberately out of context. Reflections on the steel and on the chromed rims of the portholes multiply the lights, and the curved glass bends the outlines just slightly, like a lens folding the frame back into itself.

Naomi, as always a fantastic model, occupies the space calmly and with a direct gaze, between compact poses and casual leaning: she moves through the room as if it were hers, fitting into the tight geometry of the drum and then opening up in the wider shots, never losing contact with the lens. The tattoos on her arms and hands, the very long blonde hair and the carefully done nails become details that the red heightens and the cyan cools, depending on where the light falls.

We worked by subtraction, letting the place build the scene: no added set dressing, only what a laundry already offers on its own. The LEDs and the curious looks of passers-by did the rest: and Laundry Service was served.
