The glamour shoot: Angelica

The set was shot at the Monte Gelato waterfalls, using only the available natural light: a low, diffused backlight filtering through the leaves, warming the copper hair and flattening the edges into a soft haze. It is a light you cannot control, only wait for: it comes in from behind, spreads into a milky veil that eats the borders, and lets colour do the work of holding the frame together.

It moves from the bank, where the body rests on stone among a few dry leaves, to the shallow water, where the model moves like a nymph among the falls, never forcing her attitude: the poses look natural, at times suspended, often in direct dialogue with the lens. In the first frames the distance is minimal, almost confidential, and all the weight stays in the eyes and in the red-painted mouth; then the figure pulls away, stands up, takes space, and the relationship with the surroundings becomes more physical — a foot looking for footing, wet stone, the current rustling around her legs.

The white swimsuit and its golden details catch the light, as do the earrings and the thin chain at her neck, bright points that keep the centre of the image alive. The palette stays on forest green, water blue and skin tone: three notes repeated, with the odd accent of dry leaf and grey rock. Focus is often shallow, the background dissolves into patches and reflections, and the whole thing feels more remembered than described.

Some frames leave little to the imagination, yet remain within a calm register, closer to a play with the surroundings than to a constructed pose: there is the idea of a body inhabiting the place, getting wet, drying in the sun, hiding behind a fern frond without seeking any provocation, only the naturalness of an afternoon spent in the water.
